Roger's River Run

Join Longmont Recreation Services at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, for Roger's River Run 5K Run/Walk. A part of Rhythm on the River, Roger's River Run features beautiful river views on the St. Vrain Greenway trail system. Free parking is at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, with the race starting at the parking lot on Boston Street across from the fairgrounds. The race fee includes a free Prairie Breakfast, provided by The Egg & I, including pancakes, sausage and juice; runners must show bib for free breakfast. Non-runners can purchase breakfast for $3 each (cash). Preregistered, the fee is $15 for adults and $13 for youths 14 and under and seniors 60 and older. Race-day fees increase $5. Rhythm on the River

This free festival, at Roger's Grove on Hover Street between Boston Avenue and Third Avenue, celebrates the environment, the community, art and music. It runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 13, and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 14. Parking at the Boulder County Fairgrounds is free. Free shuttles to Roger's Grove run from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Here are just a few highlights of this year's celebration:

Friday night entertainment includes Hey Lady! and Chris Daniels and the Kings.

Saturday entertainment on the Grove Stage includes Dixie Leadfoot and the Chrome Struts, The Indulgers featuring Celtic rock, Conjunto Colores playing the best of Latin jazz, Deja Blu, Triple Nickel and Firefall.

On the World Beat Stage, hear music from around Longmont with Longmont Idol and the world with Skean Dubh and Steve Mullins.

On Saturday, you enjoy the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, performances by the Longmont Theatre Company and martial arts demonstrations.

Outdoor Cinema

Longmont Outdoor Cinema, presented by Longmont Recreations Services, Longmont Film Society and Crackpots, announces the 2012 Summer Movies in Thompson Park lineup. Join us at Thompson Park, at Fourth and Bross, each Saturday, beginning July 21 and ending Aug. 4. On July 21, enjoy "Kung Fu Panda," with "Puss in Boots" showing on July 28 and "Despicable Me" rounding out the series on Aug. 4. Come early for lots of pre-movie activities, movie highlights and all-around good fun! The movie will start at dusk (about 8:30 p.m.).
